Diagnostic radiologist; allergy, immunology physician join UMMC faculty

Medical Center leadership is proud to announce the following additions to its faculty and leadership staff.

Hamid Reza Khosravi, Ph.D.

Dr. Hamid Reza Khosravi, a research associate at McMaster University’s Hamilton Health Science Center, Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, has joined the Medical Center faculty as an assistant professor of radiology and certified diagnostic radiology medical physicist.

Khosravi earned his B.Sc. in radiology technology with honors in 1995, his M.Sc. in medical physics with honors in 2000 and his Ph.D. in medical physics in 2007 at the Tehran University of Medical Sciences, Iran. He served as a regulator for the National Radiation Protection Department from 1997-2006 and as a medical and health physicist for the Fan Parto Azma Company from 2005-16. He also served as group head, assistant professor and radiation safety officer at the NRPD from 2007-13. He had served as a research associate at McMaster University, Canada, since 2014.

An active member of several professional organizations, including the American Association of Physicists in Medicine, Khosravi is the author or coauthor of 40 articles in peer-reviewed publication and two books.

Dr. Jo S. Reed, an experienced allergy and immunology physician, has joined the Medical Center faculty as an assistant professor of pediatrics.

After receiving her B.S. in biology summa cum laude from Xavier University of Louisiana in 1998, Reed earned her M.D. at the University of Tennessee, Memphis in 2002. She had an internal medicine/pediatrics internship from 2002-03 and a, internal medicine/pediatrics residency from 2003-06 at the UT, Memphis College of Medicine, and a clinical allergy and immunology fellowship at UMMC from 2007-09.

Reed has served as an internal medicine/pediatrics staff physician for Christ Community Health Services, Memphis, from 2006-07; as an allergy and immunology physician for Miami Children’s Hospital from 2009-12; as an allergy and immunology physician for the Permanente Medical Group, Walnut Creek, California, from 2012-15; and as a site lead physician for the Broad Street Clinic, Christ Community Health Services, Memphis, since 2015.

A member of the Alpha Kappa Mu Honor Society at Xavier University and a fellow of the American College of Asthma, Allergy and Immunology, Reed is also an active member of the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology. She has given 10 lectures or presentations at local, national and international scientific meetings and is the author or coauthor of five articles in peer-reviewed professional publications.
